A single-handed clock

12

One hand is all you need!  The earliest clocks and watches, and some historic clocks still in use, only had one hand.

On a 24-hour dial with midnight at the bottom and noon at the top, the position of the hour hand is analogous to the apparent position of the sun.  (A simple horologium!  Is that cool, or what?)
